About Hatchet Design & Build
Located in New York City, Hatchet prides itself on having unbridled respect to contemporary design, landmarked history, unexpected charm and playful utility.
We are a full-service firm comprised of designers, licensed contractors, and a custom fabrication studio. By sharing a single-minded passion for working within the preexisting and contingent fabric of New York, our work is founded on establishing a harmony between contemporary ambitions and longstanding traditions.
Having designers under the same roof as a construction company means that the idiosyncrasies of each project become opportunities, rather than obstacles. It is with a relentless commitment to craft, material sensibility, and collaboration, that this character comes into view. Hatchet’s integrated services provide a no-nonsense remodeling experience, with fluid communication at every step of the renovation.
Our Process
Our in-house design team, guides you through the process of developing a design that aligns with your budget and schedule goals. We leverage our construction expertise and relationships to provide accurate pricing and timing to ensure that you stay informed as the project progresses through this five-stage process:
Defining Owner Design Vision and Guide Budget/Schedule
Schematic Design and Impression Budget/Schedule
Design Development and Scoping Budget
Construction Documents and Progress Budget
Final Budget and Construction Contract
Why Hatchet?
Unlike the traditional Design–Bid–Build model, which often stretches a project across rigid and sequential phases, our collaborative approach allows us to streamline the process and compress the overall schedule.
With a clear understanding of what is required at each stage, our team structures the design process so owners can make informed decisions at the right time—ensuring steady progress and a cohesive, well-executed result.
